We created imogenruby with sustainability at its heart; through our organic clothing choices, environmentally conscious toys and passion for reusable cloth nappies. We are a family run business created by Jaz and Alison. The idea for imogen ruby began in 2021 when Jaz was pregnant with her daughter, Imogen and after much discussion with her mum (Alison) we settled on an online business launching in February 2023. We began to build our brand relationships, selecting only those who specialise in sustainably made, environmentally kind products.
In May 2023, we wanted to expand our business and opened our first physical shop in Cobblestone Walk, Steyning.
We are delighted to have been selected as one of the Small Business Saturday’s 100 inspirational small businesses for 2023.
We are careful with our product and brand selection as we want to provide a selection of high quality, attractive clothing that lasts well whilst being as ethical or sustainable as possible. All of our brands use GOTS certified organic cotton and this prestigious award means that the cotton is grown sustainably and with care to the workers and environment.
Our toy brands are chosen with thought and care to a child’s development and also have a minimal impact upon the environment.
In July 2023, Jaz finished working as a primary school teacher but continues to use this knowledge of child development to influence the products and brands we stock. Where possible we have selected fair trade brands as protecting the environment isn’t just about the physical environment but also about caring for the workers who grow and create the products. Our passion for the environment and sustainability doesn’t stop with our clothing and toys as we also stock a range of reusable products. This includes reusable cloth nappies, period products and wipes. We have created our own reusable nappy incentive scheme to help get people started with cloth nappies and also offer personalised support and advice.
