Whether you’re looking for sensory toys to recreate sensory play at home and on the move with your baby or toddler, or whether you’re looking for an introduction to sensory and fidget play, the boxes by The Sensory Box Company have been put together with you in mind.
The Sensory Box Company is a family run business based in Derby thought up by Mummy, Lauren, whilst on maternity leave in 2018. Lauren, began the business after discovering a gap in the market – on returning from sensory classes with her young baby, she couldn’t find any easy, ‘all in one’, sensory kits or boxes that were affordable on a restricted budget.
After testing the idea with mum friends and mums online, Lauren began selling boxes and the rest is history! The range of boxes has expanded from baby boxes to include toddlers and autistic people too.
Having a background in marketing and entrepreneurship, Lauren studied at Aston University, graduating in 2012 alongside her now husband, Danny. Lauren has worked at a variety of organisations, from utility companies, recruitment, to startups! Lauren began studying early years development in 2019 and continues her education through online courses and research. All that knowledge is ploughed into the boxes she creates, as well as the guides she produces. Her most recent role was at The National Autistic Society, where she was a Marketing Manager.
In 2019, with her passion for all things autism, and after testing extensively with autistic people, Lauren launched the Autism Sensory Boxes with 10% of proceeds going to The National Autistic Society.
It’s a real family-run business with husband Danny being the Chief Ribbon Ring Maker, and their key product testers being their sons Joey (aged 3) and Zack (nearly 2). Sensory boxes from The Sensory Box Company have been featured by the likes of Stacey Solomon, TheMummyConcierge, The FiveMinuteMum and Amy Willerton.
