The Little Black & White Book Project brings to life animals from all around the world as high contrast black and white illustrations for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.
Black and white is proven to help stimulate visual and brain development in new born babies allowing them something to focus on in an otherwise blurry world. Our products are designed to be used from birth to support early development but will stay with children as they grow and learn through all of the early development stages.
Our mission is to inspire the next generation of conservationists and wildlife lovers from as early an age as possible which is why we also donate 25% of profits to wildlife charities to give back to the planet we share.
The company was founded by ruth Bradford in 2017 after the birth of her son whilst living in Singapore. Underwhelmed by the lack of black and white books available she used her 15 years of design and advertising experience to create her own illustrations which became the first books and flash cards in the range.
Since moving back to the UK in 2018 Ruth has continued to grow the range across a selection of gifts as well as authoring and illustrating two rhyming storybooks. She runs the business single handedly, juggling the latest addition to the family, her daughter, who was born during the 2021 pandemic.
Ruth says “I’m so passionate about wildlife and helping children feel excited about exploring the natural world around them. As a parent I know how hard it can be in those early days so I want to help provide resources to give new mums and dad’s the confidence to support their baby’s early development. My range of products is the perfect blend of the two!”
